Jim Dine is an American painter, printmaker, sculptor and poet who came to prominence in the radical artistic milieu of New York during the early 1960s. His subjects include everyday objects and symbols - tools, hearts, bathrobes, skulls and the Venus de Milo - in various media, including etching, lithography and woodcut. Dine has made more than 1000 prints over the course of his career, many of them executed on a monumental scale. Jim Dine: A Life in Print features more than 250 illustrations, an essay and recent interview with the artist, providing insight into Dine's practice, choice of motifs and continuing experimentation with print processes.
