Legacy of love

In Victorian England, young Charlotte yearns for something beyond drawing-room daffodils and marries a soldier to satisfy her wanderlust - then finds her subsequent travels more terrifying than she'd dreamed. Two generations later, Charlotte's granddaughter, Alexandra, finds her own romance with a reclusive artist. And, as the Second World War, casts its gloomy shadow over England, Alexandra's daughter - as hungry for adventure as her Victorian great-grandmother - is forced to stay on the family farm and find an unexpected route to fulfillment.
