In the aftermath of Josy's disappearance, Viktor's marriage broke down and he withdrew to a remote North Sea island to find peace and to heal. Now, that peace has been shattered by the arrival of Anna Glass, a novelist: beautiful, enigmatic, schizophrenic. Anna's schizophrenia is rare and unusual: the characters she creates for her books become real to her. And she has started writing about a young girl who disappeared without trace... Could Anna's delusions describe Josy's last days? The prospect of uncovering the truth lures Viktor into becoming Anna's therapist. As the past is dragged back into the light, their sessions and the consequences become ever more terrifying.
